The Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects recognizes the land on which we live, work, and play is Indigenous land and territories. The ACNMP spans many ancestral lands including some treaties, territories, and unceded lands. We acknowledge our traditional hosts and honour their welcome and graciousness to those who seek knowledge.
The Alliance for Canadian New Music Projects (ACNMP) is an organization dedicated to the promotion of Canadian contemporary music. Throughout our history, it has been our mission to encourage teachers to teach Canadian contemporary music, to motivate students to study and perform this music, and to encourage Canadian composers to write music for students of all levels from the most junior to the paraprofessional.
Our Mission
To promote, and preserve Canadian contemporary music as a cornerstone of our national heritage by fostering its performance among students, teachers, and performers through education, festivals, and workshops.
Our Office
We are committed to providing members of ACNMP and members of the general public with the maximum support and current information as it relates to new Canadian Music projects.
Projects of ACNMP
Contemporary Showcase Festival
Every year during Canada Music Week, ACNMP centres across Canada present a non-competitive festival set in a master class format, adjudicated by knowledgeable musicians, and devoted entirely to music by Canadian composers. To assist teachers, students, and performers in selecting appropriate repertoire an extensive syllabus of graded music encompassing 25 instruments, vocal, and choral categories, including solos and ensembles is available. This syllabus is an important resource for students of Canadian music and updated periodically with new works from composers from coast to coast to coast. Calls for works of specific instrumentation are made every year to keep the works current.
